Beastars Season 4: Will It Ever Happen?

Beastars centers on Legoshi, a wolf struggling to keep his predatory instincts in check while falling for a rabbit named Haru. Anyone who has followed the anime knows just how deep the story can go and what a central role character development and social themes play throughout.

There are plenty of reasons to love Beastars. Its anthropomorphic characters may take some getting used to, but that’s part of what makes it so unique. It’s also why fans of the series are holding out hope for Beastars Season 4.

But is there any chance of a continuation actually happening?

Beastars: Will There Be a Season 4?

If you’re hoping for a fourth season of Beastars, there’s unfortunately disappointing news: the anime has officially concluded.

Season 3 brought the story to a proper and satisfying end. Legoshi and Haru finally got together and can now move forward with their relationship, Melon was defeated and Legoshi cleared his “Meat Offender” status.

That Beastars is truly over is also reflected by the fact that Netflix labels Season 3 as the “Final Season.” In addition, the anime is based on the original manga by Paru Itagaki, which was completed back in 2020, meaning there is no more source material left to adapt.

The second part of Season 3 was released on March 7, 2026. Some fans mistakenly refer to this as Season 4, but an actual fourth season is highly unlikely.

What Are the Chances of a Spinoff?

One thing is certain: the main story of Beastars has officially come to a close. A continuation that takes the story in a new direction is always possible, of course, but there are no indications of that happening anytime soon.

More likely than a continuation would be a Beastars spinoff, one set in the same universe but following different characters. Specials or a film would also be viable ways to keep the Beastars franchise alive.

In fact, author Paru Itagaki has already ventured into spinoff territory with Beast Complex, a manga that tells short stories set within the same universe. The series focuses on the relationships between carnivores and herbivores, with Legoshi and Haru also making brief appearances.

Beast Complex first launched in March 2016, with the final short story releasing in July 2024. In total, the manga comprises 25 stories that could, in theory, be adapted into an anime.

Whether an anime adaptation of Beast Complex will ever come to fruition, however, remains anyone’s guess. There has been no official word from either Netflix or Studio Orange on the matter.

    Anime Similar to Beastars

The chances of a continuation of Beastars are slim. However, fans shouldn’t lose hope, as there are several anime that explore a similar style and themes:

    • Odd Taxi: Just like in Beastars, the characters in this anime are anthropomorphic animals rather than humans. While the series may seem unassuming at first, it quickly develops into a complex and mysterious story filled with sharp dialogue and social commentary.
    • Tokyo Ghoul: After Ken Kaneki becomes a half-ghoul through an organ transplant, he finds himself caught between two worlds: humans and ghouls. Much like Beastars, the story focuses heavily on psychological conflict and the struggle to suppress one’s instincts.
    • Parasyte: The Maxim: This anime follows a student named Shinichi, who is forced to share his body with a parasite. Parasyte is often considered underrated, but it stands out thanks to its gripping story and well-developed characters.
    • BNA: Brand New Animal: Set in a world where humanoid animals known as Beastmen are marginalized by society, BNA explores themes of discrimination and identity similar to Beastars.
