The world’s finest assassin is reborn in a magical world. This time, his mission is to eliminate the prophesied hero and save the world from destruction. But will Lugh Tuatha Dé be able to complete this difficult operation?
This is the question fans have been asking ever since The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat premiered as an anime in fall 2021. Unfortunately, no second season has been released since then. It’s only natural that many are wondering whether the isekai series will continue and if so, when it might be released.
Everything That Happened in the Season 1 Finale
In the finale of The World’s Finest Assassin, Lugh faces the powerful enemy Setanta Macness, who is threatening Dia. To save her, Lugh agrees to a duel and ultimately defeats him using a carefully planned strategy. For a moment, Lugh believes Setanta might be the “Brave,” but realizes after the fight that he was mistaken.
At the same time, it is revealed that the Goddess deliberately set Setanta up as a test to evaluate Lugh’s abilities. This makes her appear increasingly suspicious, and her true intentions remain unclear.
In the end, Lugh finally learns the identity of the real “Brave”: Epona Rhiannon. She is introduced at the very end, while Lugh has yet to meet her. The season concludes by setting up their future confrontation.
The World’s Finest Assassin: Season 2 Has Already Been Announced
It has already been confirmed that a second season of The World’s Finest Assassin is in the works. The announcement was made in September 2023 during the Sneaker Bunko 35th Anniversary Festa! event hosted by publisher Kadokawa.
A release date has not yet been revealed. So far, we only know that Masafumi Tamura, the director of Season 1, will also be involved in the second season.
The first season was produced by Silver Link in collaboration with Studio Palette and aired in fall 2021 with a total of 12 episodes. Fans can watch the anime on Crunchyroll with English subtitles or in English dub.
The anime is based on the light novel of the same name by Rui Tsukiyo, which has been published on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website since July 2018. It was later picked up by Kadokawa and released in print volumes. To date, more than 1.4 million copies have been sold.
A manga adaptation illustrated by Hamao Sumeragi began in January 2019, with six volumes released so far.

When Will Season 2 Be Released?
Although Season 2 of The World’s Finest Assassin has been announced, no release date has been revealed yet. For now, fans can only speculate about when the isekai anime will make its return.
Naturally, some fans are wondering why the continuation is taking so long. After all, the first season aired back in fall 2021, with the announcement following roughly two years later. That said, lengthy production timelines are nothing unusual in the anime world, particularly because many studios are working on multiple series at the same time.
No further information has been shared on The World’s Finest Assassin’s official X account since the initial season announcement: no visuals, no trailers, no teasers.
Fans are speculating that Season 2 could arrive sometime in 2026 or perhaps in spring 2027, though these are purely guesses and should be taken with a grain of salt.
The World’s Finest Assassin: How to Continue the Story in the Light Novel
Don’t want to wait for Season 2 but still want to find out what happens next in Lugh Tuatha Dé’s story? In that case, you can continue with the original light novel by Rui Tsukiyo, which the anime is based on.
The light novel is already far ahead of the anime, as the series has only adapted the first of eight volumes so far. To pick up where the anime leaves off, it’s best to start with Volume 2. Publisher Yen Press releases the volumes in both Japanese and English.
